August 2020 Wrap-Up

And just like that, the month of August has come to an end!

Despite feeling like I lived through the longest March ever, August brought a new sense of peace (?) for me. My love for fantasy books was revived, summer class stress disappeared, excitement for the fall season rose, and I turned 22!

Books

After a lot of on-and-off reading slumps throughout spring and summer, I slowly started getting back into my old reading habits. Yes, they were all rereads. No, I’m not ashamed.

This month I was able to read 3 books: Ms. Marvel Vol. 1: No Normal, Six of Crows, and Crooked Kingdom. Aside from lifting me out of my reading slump, these books also fit perfectly for Magicalathon (check out my post on it here).

TV Shows

There were so many shows I wanted to watch before my school’s fall semester started. Luckily, I got to cross a good amount of them off my list. Here are some of my favorites:

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
I’ll try to keep my happy squealing to a minimum, but CATADORA!!! This series has been on my to-watch list since its first season released in 2018. The show is full of girl-power, friendship, and the battle between good and evil. Oh, there are also confusing feelings for an enemy/frenemy/ex-friend and a ship that will never sink in my heart.

The Babysitters Club
This is such a cute, heartfelt show! I wasn’t able to get my hands on the books growing up, but I always heard how amazing they were. Now, I see just what everyone was excited about!

Alexa & Katie
I really liked the focus on friendship and family in this series. There were lots of laughs and tears while watching this, and I think it acted as a good reminder that the small things in life are what we should be most grateful for.

Life

I’ve still been cautious when it comes to going out, so a lot of my time has been spent at home. August did bring some eventful things for me though.

➤ Continued playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
➤ Virtually attended DC FanDome
➤ Started my last year of undergrad
➤ Celebrated my 22nd birthday! *plays 22 by Taylor Swift*

How was the month of August for you?

Until next time, happy reading! ♡

  1. She-ra!!!! I’ve been obsessing with it since the release of s5, it’s really one of my fav show. I also started, thanks to the She-Ra fandom, The Owl House, I don’t know if you’ve heard about it? It’s nice too!

    And happy belated birthday!

  2. Ahhh, happy belated birthday! I played 22 by Taylor Swift for my brother’s 22nd birthday in August, too! It is so fitting. I LOVE your dress in the top photo. You look beautiful. I also want to watch The Babysitters Club even though I never read the books as a child. I am glad to hear that it is fun and enjoyable. Happy September!
