My Top 5 Favorite YA Couples

*Note: This post MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS and cause smiling, squealing, and the need to (re)read YA books.*

Happy Valentine’s Day!

As a single, book loving fangirl, there is no better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with a book, dessert, and friends. Bonus points if the dessert includes chocolate and the book has a ship that you just can’t jump off.

There are so many book romances that I have fallen in love with over the years, but I tried my best to narrow down my favorites. I usually have a hard time with posts like this because I find it unfair to the characters I haven’t met yet. My list is also totally biased to the fantasy genre since I tend to read more fantasy books.

So on that note, in no particular order, here are my top five YA couples:

1. Cinder and Kai
Kaider popped into my head really quickly since I’m currently in the middle of my Cinder reread. These two sassy royals are perfectly matched and have romantic chemistry from chapter one of book one. I also really like how they support and learn from one another throughout the series.

2. Cress and Thorne
Another couple from The Lunar Chronicles series, Cresswell captured my heart from the very beginning. I love how Thorne falls for Cress’ brains and talent before her looks. Trust is also an important part of their relationship, which was definitely tested while the two survived the desert.

3. Inej and Kaz
Kanej was a nice change from the norm since their chemistry expanded beyond physical affection. As both characters struggle with their personal traumas, they also have to deal with their growing feelings for each other. Kaz recognizes that he needs to become a better person for Inej, but Inej also accepts who Kaz is.

4. Magnus and Alec
Although I’m not done reading the shadowhunter books, Malec became an immediate favorite of mine. They both balance and bring out the best in each other without losing themselves in the process.

5. Aelin and Rowan
Other than being mates, Rowaelin is the ultimate power couple. I love their banter, but they also help each other out of the darkness. And if you’re still not convinced, just look at this quote: “You make me want to live, Rowan. Not survive; not exist. Live.” -Sarah J. Maas, Queen of Shadows

Non-YA Bonus: Percy and Annabeth
I know I said YA couples, but that’s why this is a bonus! Percabeth is a ship from my childhood that I will NEVER abandon. They are forever Seaweed Brain and Wise Girl, the ones who together survived Tartarus and back.

Help me expand my list of favorites by letting me know who your favorite book couples are and what book/series they are from.

Until next time, happy reading! ♡
