Bookish Playlist: May 2019

Hi everyone!

May is coming to an end, which means another month’s bookish playlist is revealed.

Playlist: Wicked Saints (Emily A. Duncan)

This month’s bookish playlist is inspired by Emily A. Duncan’s new debut novel Wicked Saints. Created by the author herself, the playlist captures the dark, romantic atmosphere created in the book. I love how the songs are a mix of languages because it helps better connect to the novel’s world-building. This playlist is different from the music I normally listen to, but it provided a nice change to my routine.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the playlist or any recommendations for future bookish playlists.

Until next time! ♡

Bookish Playlists: April 2019

It is the last Sunday of the month, so today’s post should come as no surprise. Although I only found it last week, this playlist wraps up my month perfectly.

Playlist: GEEKERELLA (Quirk Books 2017) (Ashley Poston)

My playlist choice for April is inspired by Ashley Poston’s modern-day Cinderella retelling, Geekerella. The soundtrack, created by the YA author herself, has just the right amount of “geek” and even includes a remix of “The Legend of Zelda” by Zedd. The lyrics and vibes of the songs immediately reminded me of the book, but the playlist can also be enjoyed without knowing the story.

New artists I was introduced to:

  • Vienna Teng
  • The Maine
  • Ashbury Heights
  • American Authors
  • Marianas Trench

Artists I recognized:

  • R5
  • Vampire Weekend
  • MIKA

I would love to hear your thoughts on what you like or dislike about this month’s bookish playlist choice. Until next time! ♡

Bookish Playlists: March 2019

Happy Sunday!

This month’s Bookish Playlist post is a little different from the others. Along with a playlist, I am also including one of my favorite songs from this month. The song is from a certain movie’s soundtrack, whose story was a YA book before hitting the big screen. Can you guess which one?

Hint: The movie just came out this month.

And on that note, I present to you the playlist for March 2019!

Playlist: // hufflepuff (bellatap1267)

Growing up, I lived off of the Harry Potter books and movies, so I was happy to find this Spotify playlist inspired by my Hogwarts house. I think the playlist fits Hufflepuff perfectly. The songs are great for a night in or to cheer up your day. I liked listening to it after school and during late night study sessions when I needed an extra mood booster.

And now for the song reveal…

On March 15, I was able to watch the new movie Five Feet Apart. And yes, there were tears and pulled heartstrings. Before the movie released this month, I was already hooked on one of the songs from the movie’s soundtrack. “Don’t Give Up On Me” by Andy Grammer wraps up all my feels so well that I was playing it on loop for a VERY long time.

If you decide to give either the playlist or song a listen, I would love to hear your thoughts. Until next time! ♡

Bookish Playlists: February 2019

Hi everyone!

It is almost the end of the month, which means another bookish playlist is coming your way. Surprisingly, my February favorite is not inspired by a romance novel (although I read a lot).

Playlist: inej ghafa vibes (Aitana Burman)

Inej is one of my favorite characters of all time! Also known as the Wraith, she is the first Dregs crew member we hear from in Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows.

I feel this playlist captured Inej’s character well. Every time I listen to it, I find new meaning in the songs that connect to her character development in the book. I also love the aesthetic collage used as the playlist’s cover photo, which was the first thing to catch my eye before listening to the playlist.

At the rate things are going, I might end up playing it on loop throughout March too.

Until next time! ♡

Bookish Playlists: January 2019

Hi everyone!

Today, I am excited to introduce a new category for the blog: Bookish Playlists! I love music and have been finding some amazing Spotify playlists inspired by different books. Every month, I will share my favorite playlist(s) or one that I created. If you have any favorites of your own, I would love to check them out, so feel free to share them with me in the comments!

Throne Of Glass Series and A Court of Thorns And Roses Series playlist

Spotify Playlist: Throne Of Glass Series and A Court of Thorns And Roses Series (gabrielaalvarezlove)

As I continued reading the Throne of Glass series this month, I found myself wanting to carry it with me throughout my daily activities. Sarah J. Maas did not just create a story, but an entire world that had me craving more (even when my eyes felt like they would melt — many hours of reading). That’s when I found this gem! This playlist gives off the perfect Throne of Glass vibes and had me playing it all day, every day. Although I have not read A Court of Thorns and Roses yet, I will definitely have this ready to go!
